As regular Vacay readers will know, we tend to highlight remixers in posts. However for this post I thought I’d take a slightly different tact and focus on the artist being remixed. With the impending release of his debut album, True Love Stories, there is no better time to bring up Alan Pownall. A few really good remixes of his work have been put out as you can see/hear below. I look forward to various producers getting their teeth stuck into the new tracks.
My personal favorite is by soon-to-be electro God’s Monarchy. They’ve remixed Chasing Time superbly, giving it an excellent uplifting chorus. This is a beautiful track. I can sum it up in one word – amazing, as you’ll see below.
Pushing it close as my favorite is Jakwob‘s remix of A Life Worth Living. He strips the track down to its bare basics and takes the chorus repeating it through the song. It sounds kinda boring but it works ever so well, and really pushes the ‘message’ of the song. In my opinion, it’s one of Jakwob’s best remixes.
In his remix of Colourful Day, Seams changes far less than Jakwob, making a minimalist electro track, much closer to the original. This will appeal more to AP’s original fans.
The final track is Melechtric’s remix of Clara. Unlike the other remixes, this track is less focused around the lyrics, instead producing a banging tune.
