Now if you haven’t seen the 1980′s classic Chevy Chase movie FLETCH then the title of this post is over your head. On the flip side, if you go watch it now and come back it’ll be worth the laugh… I promise. Now onto the music, obviously anyone who appreciates the man who brought us classics such as Caddy Shack, Vegas Vacation (Who could forget Nick Papageorgio?), and The Three Amigos! as much as I do is gettin at least one download from me. The particular song I stumbled upon first was his remix of a classic Roots song- Criminal and let me tell you I was certainly not disappointed. This song definitely brings a different flavor to the WAVE but I promise you it’s sweet not sour. Those of you who have heard the original know how funky this song is and if you follow The Roots (which you should) then you know 2 things:
1)They’re not just rappers… they’re straight up artists which is why they qualify for the WAVE
2) Quest Love is the best drummer of our generation (Don’t hate me Travis Barker fans cause he gets my love as well).
Anyway, what the good Doctor prescribes here for us is the perfect cure for down times, bad beats, and hangovers. He essentially removes the guitar and replaces it with what certainly sounds like a synthesized viola (The pitch range doesn’t seem high enough to be a violin) while keeping Quest Loves infallible bass line in tact. Whether your a fan of The Roots, The Doctor, or just groovy beats this jam is for you.
