So I decided to fly out to LA (first time ever) for one night just as the first day of EDC (also a first for moi) started. I touched down at LAX on saturday around 12 and after a $46 cab ride I find myself in a mammoth line waiting for the doors to open. After an excruciating wait I was off to the open bar at the KineticField to catch Dada Life, Bart B More, Afrojack, and Laidback Luke. Right off the bat, Bart B More put me on a great one with this jammmmaaa bammmaa.
Followed by a very Dadarific set, the duo had me doing the Dada with their chunes “All The Lovers”, “Kites”, and “Under The Water.”
Ahhh Afrojack. LA meet Mr. Dutch House. The amount of bleeps and bloops that blarred thru the many speakers at EDC came as no surprise to me. Car alarms are here to stay. MC’s on the other hand, I hope they die. Just before his set ended (and Lil Jon started MCing) I headed over to the cosmicMEADOW to catch me some crunchiness. I was able to get to the very front and catch HUOROTRON tearing it up. Sound of Stereo played a MEGA set, reminding me very much of the epic Crookers set at Ultra this year. Somehow, I made it back to catch Laidback Luke but missed Felix Cartal, Harvard Bass, and La Riots (I think, at this point Vacay was in full swing). Luke was massive as usual, playing “Till Tonight” “Dirty Talk” and these tracks:
I have never seen or heard of him having a bad set. After slamming 5 monster and vodka’s (gotta love the open bar), I was ready to get my face melted off by Wolfgang. He played his standard set (Hard House with a hint of Dutch), including some of my favorites “Undertaker” “5th symphony” and “Fire Power.”
What happened next, I’m not sure I can put into words. All I can say is Duck…. Sauce. Most Valuable Vacayers (MVV) of EDC 2010 . This collab of Fool’s Golds A- Trak and Armand Van Helden is the best thing that has happened to disco in a long time. If you have the chance to see them, I strongly recommend you do.

P.s. what’s that track you opened up with with the sample from THP – Good to Me.
Unfortunately, I missed out on Boys Noize and MSTRKRFT. I’ve already heard about how epic Boys Noize was so I don’t wanna hear it…. But let me know how MSTRKRFT was… It’s been a while since they’ve made some noise.
At this point, I have about 4 hours before my flight back to the nations capital so I decided to go and check out some post EDC Vacay action… after 2 unsuccessful tries we decided to go hit up this strip club called Spearmint Rhino, where I met a very nice little Hungarian stripper who took all my money. After the place closed at around 4 AM, I got a cab to the airport only to realize I had no cash so I asked the cabbie to take me to an ATM. For some reason Suntrust has issues when you fly across the country without notifying them so a block had been placed on my card. Next thing I know, the cabbie was gone, my phone was dead and the closest intersection was South Central Ave and 7th. Now I’ve never been to LA, but by the looks of it I was in the heart of crackhead central. Long story short, I was able to catch some random bus to a metro station, which finally got me to LAX.

Hey buddy, i’m searching the song Duck Sauce is playing in the ”Daisy Electric Carnaval 2010 ” you have post.

Thx !
Mike
Hey love your site and great post btw!! None of the mp3′s in this post worked for me though? Did you take them down?
hmm… no. I just tested them and they worked for me. What browser are you using and do you have javascript enabled? If your still having problems just email us at [email protected] and we will send you the mediafire links…
I came for the music (Duck Sauce search on Hypem) but stayed for the storytelling.
You write well and had we laughing; thank you.

mstrkrft destroyed. it was a religious experience. I haven’t heard a set slay that hard for awhile. And the final closing, Daft Punk’s “Aerodynamic” into Crooker’s “Thunderstruck” remix blew my mind, and when they cut at the drop and walked off stage…well that was probably a good thing. If that had dropped, everyone in the crowd would have simultaneously died of awesome music overload.
MSTRKFRT at EDC was pretty epic especially having to follow up after the Dsauce, it was my first time seeing them but there new stuff is definitely way more electro and kept the party at cosmic meadow going.
duck sauce was pretty good but i definitely thought wolfgang and mstrkrft were better. wolfgang almost ended me it was like sensory overload. the end of mstrkrft pissed me off.. biggest blue balls ever but when they dropped warp it was epic
I USED TO LISTEN TO THE RADIO! IT’S KIND OF LIKE THE STEREO!
Tooo epic
I completely agree with you. DuckSauce absolutely killed it. What made it even better was that Wolfgang Gartner opened with a sick set and MSTRKRFT closed the night down in style. I don’t think there was a better 1-2-3 lineup all weekend. Can’t wait for EDC next year and some new tracks from DuckSauce. Glad you enjoyed your LA VACAY.
That Fake Blood track is huge! Reminds me of some minimal techno that I posted a week ago.
Check them out here and here.

Love your site and taste in music! i was at EDC on saturday as well, sounds like we caught a lot of the same acts – Dada life, Afrojack, Laidback Luke, Wolfgang and Duck Sauce. I definitely share your sentiments about MCs, could have done without Will.I.Am or annoying screams from Lil’ Jon. Hope you enjoyed your first trip to LA and glad you survived your adventure in South Central.
