(Electric Zoo + Fools Gold Show) Labor Day Vacay 2010 Recap

After 3 days of extreme vacay conditions, I have yet to re-adjust to non-vacay conditions. I still can’t listen to people, I walk with a limp, my voice is completely gone, my boogers are black, and I frequently mistake tequila for water. All of which can be easily fixed with some nutritious vacay vitamins. Anyways, the good people over at Made Events put together a flawless festival that featured vacayrific music at virtually every moment.

Electric Zoo Festival Vacay 2010 Day 1

I didn’t get to the zoo as early as planned due to an unexpected date with vacay friday night. Nonetheless, I schwiefed my way in just in time to catch me some dirty dutch via Afrojack. He violently tossed me into vacay-fest mode almost immediately….making me forgot that the photo pit was not for raging. whoops!

Day 1 Most Valuable Vacayer (MVV) #1: Afrojack

Afrojack Vitamins

  • AudioBot - Noize, Bass & Disco
  • Rune RK - Calabria
  • Sidney Samson - Riverside (Afrojack Remix)

With Erol Alkan filling in the void between Afro and Fake Blood, I had no time to collect my face which had just melted, due to excessive car alarms + pitch bending vocals. Fake Blood finished off the job almost as soon as he layed his hands on the vinyls and my face was nowhere to be found (as well as my mind)… leaving me with just pictures to explain my whereabouts until the chem bros. Oh and Rusko was hard but ehh not his best set… Pretty Lights was spectacular as usual.

Day 1 MVV #2: Fake Blood

What can I say about the chem bros? I’m not sure if I was at a film screening or a hardcore trance rave. The whole set/movie/mix/artistic-genre-yet-to-be-coined was truly something I have never experienced before. It appeared to have been about a young girl and finding & falling in love, it went through some twists & turns, but finally came full circle as she found “the one.” It was truly something magical… oh and when I heard Star Guitar I completely creamed my pants and continued raging.

Day 1 MVV #3: The Chemical Brothers

Chemical Brothers Vitamins

  • The Chemical Brothers - Another World
  • The Chemical Brothers - Star Guitar
  • The Chemical Brothers - Do It Again

Electric Zoo Festival Vacay 2010 Day 2

As expected the second day was exponentially better than the first day. I got an earlier start on sunday so I could catch GRUM set the day on fire. Once again, as soon as I got there GRUM put me on a great one… after choosing Grum, I stumbled into the Red Bull Music Academy Stage only to be ambushed by SAVOY. These two dooderines were pumpin it during their entire set and somehow all the vacayers had the energy to keep up… expect a nice follow up posts with these guys. Much like Fake Blood the previous day, SAVOY stole my face and my memory until Boys Noize blasted it back on. Over the next two hours, I was put into a deep state of vacay due to fantastic sets from Laidback Luke, Avicii, and especially Mehdi. I sadly missed Moby, which I heard killed it, and Aeroplane, which is now only one dood ;(…. on the bright side we now have The Magician.

Day 2 MVV #1: SAVOY

SAVOY Vitamin

  • SAVOY - Nothin for Nothin

Ahh man, the moment I’ve been prepping myself for…. I honestly took a 20 minute rest sesh, while my camera charged, only to find out that nothing could have prepped me for the tsunami of noize about to be bestowed upon my body. He lured me in with his classic intro of Kontact Me (Rynecologist remix) and I followed not knowing that he had loaded up the speakers with shards of glass…. I mean, he threw down the RAWEST set imaginable, which is why I believe he is the MVV of both days of E-ZOO. (Brap!, Yeah, 1010, and My Moon My Man… plus the vitamins below)

Both Day MVV: Boys Noize

Boys Noize Vitamins

  • Boys Noize - My Head (Para One Remix)
  • Boys Noize - Transmission (Tiga Remix)
  • Boys Noize - Lava Lava
  • D.I.M - Kleine Traume (Mr. Vega Rework Edit)

After that nothing really compared… Bassnectar’s set was very much vacay approved but unfortunately I had nada left in the tank to participate in the mosh pit. Oh and Aoki’s intro with Paradise Poltergeist energized me enough to rage out hard one last time. Although I spent most of my time at the Red Bull Music Academy Stage, the Hilltop stage was notably more ragtastic….
