This song and the fact that its been remixed nearly a dozen times within a month of being leaked just goes to show how versatile the Gorillaz really are. Starting off their road to fame in 2001, the Gorillaz sold over seven million copies of their first album, “Gorillaz”. This funky, virtual band as one of the first to really show that there really are no limitations when it comes to music. Just travel back in time and think of “Clint Eastwood” and “Feel Good Inc.” and you’ll realize how ahead of their time this band really was, seamlessly integrating rap, electronic, and instrumental components to create absolute candy for your ears. “Stylo” was initially leaked by a Russian blog on January 20 of this year. In response to the leak, the Gorillaz made the song available for download on their website on January 26 (aka the best fucking day of the year aka my birthday). The song’s official release day is March 1. “Stylo” is part of a new album called “Plastic Beach”, which is the Gorillaz third studio album, set to be released in the US on March 9. This album features a number of artists who have made their respective claims to fame across the musical spectrum. Featured artists include Paul Simonon (not to be confused with Paul Simon) and Mick Jones of the classic British punk rock band The Clash on the track “Plastic Beach”. Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, and De La Soul are a few others of many that will make appearances on this album as well.
