LightsoverLA (Various Genres – Phoenix, Arizona)

I couldn’t find much info on this guy but I do know that he is 1) awesome and 2) extremely versatile. I’ve been into him for a while since he caught my ear with his Crystal Castles Remix. My favorite part of this guy is that he has a very wide range of musical ability. Let’s see what he can do

LightsoverLA Original Vitamin

This is the only original, solid. I like his remixes better but this is worth giving a listen, just wait for the next vitamin though.

  • LightsoverLA – I Don’t Want To Die Like This

Breakbeat Vitamin:

Once you hear this you’ll realize why I love this guy so much. This song distorts the vocals so perfectly and LightsoverLA does a fantastic job of beatmashing the same few snippets over a broad spectrum of frequencies. Enjoy this and get excited for what’s coming next

French House Vitamin:

I think it’s safe to say that LightsoverLA knows what you want more so than Two Door Cinema, no offense. This is a great song to dance to or sit by the pool. It has a very upbeat feel and once it’s over you can’t help to feel optimistic about what’s coming next. In the case that you’re not a French House Fan/Clinically Insane, don’t worry this guy has something to please everybody.

Electro Pop Vitamin

I guess this remix does have a housey feel but Billie Holiday was originally a poppy song so you get a nice blend here.

This song is constantly building up and at each drop he throws a new aspect into the song. Starting with a simple drum beet and guitar riff, at :40 you really start hearing the distortion then a little more drums and then come the vocals at 1:00. Trance comes in at around 1:15 and once you get to 1:30 it really gets started. There’s too much in this song to go over just listen to it. Please.

Editor’s Note: Arguably my favorite track by lightsoverLA.

Dance Vitamin:

This is another feel good song, less variation but awesome nonetheless. If you’re not at least head bobbing at a minute in then you may as well gauge out your eardrums because they are severely dysfunctional.

DUBSTEP Vitamin:

Now don’t think I forgot about dubstep. That would just be shameful considering my head is still throbbing from my wobble induced hangover after Starscape last weekend which was fucking awesome, look for videos of Rusko’s setlist and for the love of god check out his new album, Rusko/O.M.G.

Unfortunately this song doesn’t involve any Rusko but LightsoverLA proves to be a not too shabby dubstep dj himself.

Vacay Vitamin:

Okay this song just screams RAGE. So rage. Have a nice day.

Yo thanks for the insight guys. LoLA is sick. I agree dubstep is definitely there weak point currently but once they get more experience and implement their intricate production style I can see great things coming. I’m crossing my fingers. Expect a post down the line if/when these guys blow up in the dubstep scene.

Hey mate, LOLA is two guys, Storm and Hector. Come from a really successful back ground in metal bands. Really agree with your sentiments on them though. They’ve got so much talent that there versatility is ridiculous.. I’ve always wanted them to do more french touch/nu disco stuff along the lines of the two door cinema club track but it seems that they’re more and more inclined towards the dubstep these days.

Heard they absolutely blew the roof off on phoenix last weekend at their show.

I think it’s more than one guy? Great post though, it includes all my favorite tracks. I think the best is Better Than Love but that’s cos I was kinda involved, haha. Other than that though, What You Know is amazing!

i’m loving lightsoverLA right now. i think he’s strongest with his french house and electro pop songs. the dubstep isnt bad, but i think he doesn’t quite have the kick drum sounds it needs
