Mailbag Monday Err Wednesday #5

It’s a disgusting rainy Monday in St. Louis, but I’m in a good mood for two reasons: (1) I’m done with school for the rest of my life, assuming I didn’t fail any of my finals and (2) there were enough vitamins in my mailbox that even Dr. Kevorkian would feel uncomfortable prescribing them all.

Time to O.D.

Vitamin #1:

This first one is a dope little ditty from AudioDax, an electro-hop duo still recording out of their college dorm room. They sent me an e-mail asking if we would be nice enough to post some of their material. You didn’t have to ask so politely guys, your music is good enough. Hopefully someone will hear it and get you out away from your roommate and into a studio.

  • AudioDax - Matter of Time

Vitamin #2:

You like laid-back music? Well then fuck you. Eat this.

  • JJ XXI - Conquest
  • Young Love - Find a New Way (JJ XXI Remix)

Vitamin #3:

This next one caught me off guard. It starts with some nice pretty falsetto along with a steady mellow beat then around 1:30 it shit all over my face. Then right back to the prettiness. Then again, 2:45 shitting on my face. Right back to prettiness. I appreciate the elegant balance between prettiness and face shitting. Could be a Girls N Boomboxes post soon if I get enough of their material in mp3 format.

  • Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream (Girls N Boomboxes Remix)

Vitamin #4:
Vacay’s permanent Afrojack induced mega-boner is going nowhere.

  • Afrojack - Real High (PeaceTreaty Sierra Nevada Remix)

Vitamin #5:

As someone who produces mashups, I sympathize with the amount of work this song probably took. Oldschool tunes (i.e. Huey Lewis and the News) typically are all offbeat and whatnot. It gets annoying but this is an example of why it’s usually worth it. The final product could be $.

  • Scott Sheldon - Baddd But It's Alright (Huey Lewis and the News vs. The Ying Yang Twins)

Vitamin #6:

Ever heard of Viking Dance Music? Neither had I, which is why I was surprised when I got this next tune in an e-mail from amateur producer Thortron. Even more suprising was that I kind of like it.

  • THRTRN - Hammer Time (Valhall Edit)

Vitamin #7:

The heavy vitamins continue. This next one is the debut remix from Might. Its a remix of Silvouplay’s ‘Nod Your Head,’ which is in itself a pretty hardcore song. Might has made it even hardcorer to the point where ‘Nod Your Head’ is a bit of an understatement. I would have suggested “Explode Your Head From the Inside.” Not my call though.

  • Silvouplay – Nod Your Head (Might Remix) (Removed by request)

Vitamin #8:

I’m upset that I’d never heard of 10,000 Volt Ghost because I really like what I’ve heard from their submissions/myspace profile. I don’t think they’re that big, but I still owe it to Vacay Nation to be more on top of it. Where the name 10,000 Volt Ghost comes from is a fantastic trivia question. They’re named after a monster from Scooby Doo. I figured this out because one of the first Google hits was for a Scoobypedia entry. That’s right. Scoobypedia exists.

  • 10,000 Volt Ghost - Pardon?
  • 10,000 Volt Ghost - Empathy (10,000 Volt Ghost Remix)

Vitamin #9:

This one is already on HypeM on a few different blogs, but it did get submitted and it is sick. Better late than never, right? I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve come to expect nothing but bangers from Jakwob.

  • Matisyahu ft. Akon - One Day (Jakwob Remix)

Nine Vitamins is a new mailbag record. The zillion hours of shitty music I listened to while searching was also a new record. I hope you appreciate both.
