Poppin’ DOM (Indie electro – Boston, MA)

DOM, a five-piece act from Worcester, Massachusetts, just released their new EP ‘Sun Bronzed Greek Gods’ and it is just plain awesome.  They follow in the footsteps of recent Boston electronic acts Passion Pit and Yes Giantess, but they have a cool “we-don’t-give-a-fuck” type of attitude that really comes across on their track “Burn Bridges” in which they urge people to “Burn bridges/Make yourself an island”.  Ripe with psychedelic synths and catchy lyrics, these tracks make for a très chill listen outside as summer approaches.

I posted awhile back about Washed Out and the “Life of Leisure EP” back in mid-February and finally got a chance to see them perform with Small Black a couple weeks back.  As expected, Ernest Greene of Washed Out killed it.  ‘New Theory’ was unexpectedly my favorite song from his live set.  It’s a track that I didn’t like very much at all at the time of my post – so much so that I even left it off my post.  If you get a chance, see Small Black and Washed Out play in concert together (currently on tour in the Northeast and then Western Europe).  Both groups have remixes of each other songs which means that they play a joint set at the end of the show where they take turns mixing the other groups tracks live.
