So I decided to start a new habit of posting something that I would like to call “The Smörgåsbord”. In this, I will post a bunch of different songs that I have found that I decide I like no matter what genre or year they are from. Listen to them. Or don’t, I don’t really care. Smörgåsbord!!!!!!!!!!!
On June 22nd, Uffie is set to release her first studio album in the US, “Sex, Dreams and Denim Jeans”. As far as I’m concerned, she tends to be fairly hit or miss although if the dudes over at Ed Banger approve of her, I certainly approve as well. “Pop the Glock” and “ADD SUV” are the only other songs that I’ve heard off the album and if the rest of it sounds something like these, I will be very pleased.
I happen to be a fairly big Beastie Boys fan. This and the fact that “Sabotage” happens to be one of my favorite Beastie Boy songs (mainly due to my brothers amazing rendition of it in Rock Band) caused me be slightly hesitant when deciding whether or not to check out Alex Metric’s remix. Turns out, it’s pretty fuckin awesome.
Not the hugest Junkie XL fan in the world although this next song definitely got me groovin while playing video games at work.
Got this one a while ago and it recently came up while I was shuffling through some music. Reminded me how much I love Danger and how I can’t wait for him to put out some new stuff. I actually got to see him at New York’s Webstar Hall a few years ago although I had no clue who the hell who he was. And for that, I am a fucking idiot. For those who don’t know, this song was released for free by Adult Swim on the ATL RMX cd. Pretty awesome stuff.
I can definitely see this song becoming my song of choice for the summer. Relaxing by the beach and jamming out to this song is about the only thing I want to do right now.
I had the great fortune of seeing Soulwax in Baltimore about two years ago and they are still one of the most interesting live shows I’ve seen to date. Wearing their signature all white suits, they came on stage and rocked the shit out of the tent. Their remix of “Yeah, Techno!” is pretty grimy so check it out.
Wow, this song is pretty mega. Kids At the Bar continue to put out remixes that make me want to body slam someone on to my coffee table. And then use the leftover pieces to smash over their face. Sorry for Vacaying.
*Note - If anyone knows a place that sells cheap coffee tables, please let me know.
This next one is pretty old although I heard it for the first time earlier this week. Really digging the vocals on this one. I saw a couple remixes of it although I think it deserves much better. Someone please do this song JUSTICE.

So, this song came out in like 1984 and it’s one of the funkiest songs I’ve ever heard. The robot voices are absurd. I wonder what these guys would do if they ever got together with Chromeo. Here’s to hoping that happens sometime in the future.

wait, Pop the Glock is gonna be on the album? isn’t that song like 3 years old?
Yeah, that song is really old but I guess because this is her debut album they decided to put it on. Kinda reminds of when MSTRKRFT put “Vuvuvu” and “Bounce” on Fist of God even though people had heard them like a year earlier.
