The electro scene in boston is strongly overshadowed by the indie scene and no one really pays much attention to up and coming electro artists. The biggest thing to come out of Boston lately is Passion Pit, but other than that it hardly emits a whisper. Which is why boston’s heaviest electro duo, in my opinion, have come down to Miami, where they’ve started to make a lot of (low-end distorted) noise. I introduce to you, Pirate Stereo. I had the fortunate opportunity of catching these rad doods for an interview before they head off to the desert to do an epicly novel dj set powered by their friends, which I’ll explain later. I’ll have the full interview released shortly but here are some of the highlights I’ve picked out.
Why Pirate Stereo?
… have a friend who is obssessed with pirate life, like being rowdy, happy, working together like a team, and obviously he likes to party like an animal. So he kinda got us into this pirate lifestyle. One day we were sitting around talking about music and stuff that we liked. We kinda fell upon the word stereo and it caught our attention… from their we just fell upon pirate stereo. It just made sense. We loved the pirate lifestyle, literally, and we love music and stereo is king.

If you happen to be part of the chosen few who have locked up a Coachella ticket, I am extremely jealous of you. You better Vacay twice as hard to make up for my absence. Anyways, one of the most creative/epic sets, that I’ve ever heard of, will be going down at the Global Inheritance dome @ Coachella on saturday. It is called the sweat shop mixer stage and all of the power require for Pirate Stereo’s set will be supplied by there friends on hamster wheels, treadmills etc. Its an eco-friendly set and all of the energy is recyclable. This is something you don’t wanna miss. Come support a good cause and see a bunch of peeps get worked like animals all so Pirate Stereo can blast you in the face with bass.
