For those of you who may think that Avicii and friends sold out, allowing Leona Lewis to sample Avicii’s ‘Penguin’, then you are fortunately mistaken. Here’s what Avicii had to say about this:
To answer everyone, the first time I heard Leona Lewis ‘Collide’ was today. I didn’t produce it and neither me or my manager could approve it.
I’m just upset for someone taking credit of our idea before I had a chance to release it… And for the time and effort that has been put into this by my manager and label.
EDIT: Just to be clear, the hook in question was originally written by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Simon Jeffes. Avicii samples a section of “Perpetuum Mobile” in his song “Penguin”…
Why is Leona Lewis releasing Collide now, and why is Avicii credited on the track without his knowledge? Something seems fishy…
The good thing about all of this is that this tune got Afrojack‘d up…
